What image metadata can tell you
The report is the useful part. These two notes explain its boundaries.
What the viewer reads
JPEG, PNG, and WebP can carry camera settings, GPS, author details, software names, color profiles, thumbnails, XMP, IPTC, and stored AI prompts or workflows.
PNG text chunks and WebP containers are checked alongside EXIF. Unknown readable tags stay available in the complete field view.
What metadata cannot prove
Fields can be edited, removed, or wrong. A missing location does not prove that a photo never had one, and a camera name is not cryptographic evidence.
Faces, signs, reflections, landmarks, and license plates are pixels. This viewer does not inspect them.
Quick answers
Can this show where a photo was taken?
Yes, when valid latitude and longitude remain in EXIF GPS. The page makes no map request until you click the map link.
Does a screenshot usually contain EXIF?
Often very little, but software labels, dates, color profiles, PNG text, or AI settings can still remain.
Can metadata be forged?
Yes. Camera models, dates, authors, and coordinates are editable labels—not cryptographic proof.
Does this upload my image?
No. A Web Worker reads the bytes in browser memory. The page has no upload endpoint, file history, or metadata storage.
