How to act on this result

  • Search all fields

    Field not found: search native fields as well as the summary. If parsing finished and it is still absent, it was not found in this copy. That cannot distinguish a field never recorded from one removed later.

  • Check reading limits

    Reading incomplete: a damaged block, unsupported format or interrupted parser is a reading limit, not an empty record. Read the warning and keep the original before trying another supported copy.

  • Compare the sources

    Value present: dates, names and coordinates record what the file says. They are editable. Compare source groups and the history of this copy before treating a value as evidence.

Is this metadata viewer safe to use?

The file is processed inside this browser tab. ViewExif has no upload endpoint, account, or server-side parser for your selected file.

What EXIF data can this viewer read?

When those fields are present, it can read camera model, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, timestamps, GPS coordinates, orientation, XMP, IPTC, and other available EXIF and file metadata.

Can this reveal where a photo was taken?

If the image contains usable GPS coordinates, the report shows them. Many files contain no location, and metadata can be removed or changed.

Can metadata be wrong?

Yes. Dates, locations, camera labels, authors, and every other editable field can be stale, missing, or deliberately changed.

Can metadata restore blurred or redacted parts of an image?

No. Metadata inspection does not reconstruct pixels. It can only reveal stored fields or an embedded preview that is already inside the file.
